Meat Production to Grow by 13.5% in Agricultural Organizations of the Russian Federation06.10.2008 meatinrussia In January – August 2008 slaughter livestock and poultry production totaled to 3.1 million tons in agricultural organizations of the Russian Federation. According to the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) it amounts to 113.5% over January – August 2007. Milk production in agricultural organizations amounted to 10 million tons, or 100.4% in comparison with the rate of the corresponding period in 2007. The major part of slaughter cattle and poultry, i.e. more than 1 million tons was produced by agricultural organizations of Central Federal District. The increase totaled to 20.7% to compare with the last year rate. Thereat, meat production growth was registered in all seven federal districts of the Russian Federation. Volga Federal District organizations took leading positions in milk production. Their total milk production amounted to more than 3.2 million tons for the reporting period. Milk production growth was registered in four of seven federal districts. In other three districts milk production was down. The most significant decrease of milk production (3.4) was registered in agricultural organizations of Southern Federal District.
